In tonight’s Quantum Leap season 1 episode 3, “Somebody Up There Likes Ben,” as per the NBC synopsis, “Ben leaps to flashy 1970’s Las Vegas and into the body of promising young boxer Danny Hill on the eve of a big title fight.

Ben and Addison discover that everything is on the line and must help Danny and his trainer/brother Daryl win the fight or lose everything. Magic, Ian, and Jenn dig into Ben’s past to uncover the truth.”

In tonight’s Quantum Leap episode, Ben still has no memory of who he is. He gets punched in the face in a boxing ring. He heads to the showers, looking for clues around him. Addison shows up in the locker room. She is sorry he is still in this loop and on his 3rd leap but they haven’t found a solution yet. He learns he is a golden glove boxer named Danny. He learns he has one of the biggest fights tomorrow. Just then, a woman named Angela comes in and kisses him. This must be Danny’s girl. His coach comes in and gets mad, telling Angela to go.

The next day, appearing as Danny, Ben travels to his big fight and attends the pre-press event. At the event, Ben and Addison learn the drama around Angela is because she is dating his opponent.

Addison reports back to Ian. She is tired and emotional with Ben still leaping. Later, Ian tells Magic and Addison that after looking at the programming, Ben has a minimum of 10 leaps. Addison tells them she needs to tell Ben. Meanwhile, Ben gets approached by his opponent. He knows Angelina has been dating him. He has his entourage with them. His coach Daryl intervenes and starts fighting with them. Ben gets them out of there but not before he learns that Daryl could lose the gym if Ben loses.

Ben tells Addison this and also that he suspects more. She tells him he is right. Danny does lose the fight and Daryl takes his own life. Ben needs to save him.

Addison talks again with Ian and Magic. It looks like Been has coded in an effort to speed up time. She heads back to Ben and witnesses him talking to Daryl’s wife. She is worried about him. He hasn’t been himself. She is crying. He consoles. He will win and all will be right. After she leaves, he tells Addison he really needs to win. They talk about a game plan and how he can do this. Addison has also brought a video of the fight so Ben can see it.

Magic learns that Ben left several conventions early and was coding without their knowledge. He may have to tell Addison. Meanwhile, she helps Ben train. The stress exhausts her. She passes out with her hologram disappearing right in front of Ben.

Magic visits Addison in the hospital. He tells her she is dehydrated and overtired. After, Magic learns Janice is in the program. If they reboot, they lose connection to Ben. Meanwhile, Janice visits her mom and demands her father’s things pertaining to the code. In anticipation of her mom saying no, she put something in her drink.

Addison returns to Ben as Daryl is arrested for the assault involving his fight the other night with his opponent’s entourage. In an effort to change the trajectory, Ben gets himself arrested too. In the cell, he talks to Daryl about his feelings and how he is worried about him. He also promises he will win.

After Angela pays for their release, they head to the fight. Ben needs to win this. Addison helps instruct him through the process. Ben knocks out his opponent. But he gets back up. Ben then gets knocked down but gets back up. In the end, he winds up the fight.

Ben tells Addison that he took a lot of punches but it was a team effort. She agrees and then finally tells him he is going to be leaping for a bit. He can handle this if she can take care of herself. He tells her he remembers something from before.

Magic gets a call. Janice has access to the program and has access to an old link from Ziggy. Meanwhile, Ben finds himself at a bar. He is wearing a tank top with a chain. It looks like the 80s. He looks in the mirror. He is a woman.
