Player Ban: Aleksandar Mitrovic Suspended for Shoving Referee During FA Cup Quarter-Final

An eight-game ban has been imposed on Aleksandar Mitrovic for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat of Fulham against Manchester United on March 19.

Mitrovic had served the first game of his suspension in the 2-1 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth and will now miss seven top-flight matches.

Originally, Mitrovic received a standard three-match ban for a red card, but this has been extended by three games for violent conduct towards a match official and another two for using improper language.

He admitted the latter offense and was fined £75,000, but disputed the charge of violent conduct unsuccessfully.

Fulham head coach Marco Silva, who was also punished, admitted using abusive language towards Kavanagh and the fourth official, but denied throwing a water bottle towards the assistant referee.

The charges were upheld, resulting in fines and a two-game touchline ban.

Fulham was also penalized £40,000 for failing to control their players.

The FA confirmed its plan to appeal the decisions of the independent regulatory commission for longer bans for both Mitrovic and Silva.

The players issued apologies for their dismissals, expressing regret for their actions and emphasized accepting the punishments handed down against them.
