Chelsea closing in on signing Ivory Coast striker Datro Fofana from Erling Haaland's former club Mol

Chelsea have an agreement in place with Norwegian side Molde to sign teenage striker Datro Fofana.

The Blues' centre-forward options took a hit last week after Armando Broja ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and he is now expected to miss the rest of the season.

Graham Potter's side still have ex-Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz as options up top.

But Chelsea will be looking to recruit another front man in the January window given the pair have just seven goals between them so far.

Now, it appears the Blues aren't wasting any time in getting bodies through the door.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are on the verge of signing Fofana.

It's understood there’s a full agreement in place with Premier League superstar Erling Haaland's former club Molde to sign the striker who made his debut for the Ivory Coast back in 2019.

Blues fans will be hoping the 19-year-old will follow in the footsteps of club legend and former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba, who netted 164 goals during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The teenager has scored four goals in 10 games so far this season in Norway and ended last campaign with an impressive tally of 17 in 29 matches.

Fofana began his career in the Ivory Coast with AFAD, and was heavily scouted by French, Belgian and Norwegian clubs.

However it was Molde that snapped him up in 2021 and he went on to score in his debut in a 3-3 draw in the Europa League against Hoffenheim.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix had emerged as possible options for the Blues in January, however it seems the Premier League side are opting for the starlet instead.
